Andrea Pirlo says that MLS needs to do more in order to compete with China

The Chinese Super League and the MLS are the 2 non-European football leagues that have recently been gaining the most popularity and that have attracted a significant amount of high-profile stars in the world of football.


Ashley Cole, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Andrea Pirlo and David Villa are a few of the latest and well-known players that have joined the MLS while in the Chinese Super League some or more highly-rated performers that compete or have competed in the Asian League are: Oscar, Didier Drogba, Jackson Martinez, EzequielLavezzi, Demba Ba and Hulk.

Even though both leagues have been attracting top players in recent times, New York City’s Andrea Pirlo believes that the MLS will not be able to truly compete with the Chinese Super League and will not be able to lure in a large amount of top-players unless the rules of the MLS change in the near future.

Andrea Pirlo has been performing in the MLS since July of 2015 and the Italian player has learned how things work in the American League and Pirlo believes that there are some big flaws in the MLS which might slow down the progress of the football league. Dos Santos ready for 2017

Giovani Dos Santos said that he is willing to take new responsibilities for LA Galaxy ahead of the new season.


Indeed with the manager Bruce Arena having left the club to coach the United States national team and with Steven Gerrard and Robbie Keane leaving the club at the end of last season, Giovani Dos Santos is the only player with enough experience to take the leadership role at the club.

The forward said that he is aware that more will be expected of him and believes that he has the necessary experience to shoulder these responsibilities.

He stated that he has been developing a lot in the past years and that he has learned a lot by playing alongside players such as Robbie Keane and Steven Gerrard. DROGBA TO END MLS STAY

Chelsea legend Didier Drogba is set to end his time in the MLS at the end of the current season, according to reports.


The 38-year old Ivorian told reporters that he had played in his last home game for Montreal Impact following their 3-2 victory over Toronto FC in the Eastern Conference finals.

“There’s still one or maybe two games to go. Next week’s game is more important than if it’s finished or not. Everyone knows it was my last game here. Now let’s focus on the semi-final,” the Champions League winner said when asked about his future plans.

The player has not disclosed his next move but the striker would not be short of offers is he decides to play for another year before hanging his boots. He has played and won titles in France for Marseille, England for Chelsea, including Golden Boots, Premier League, FA Cups et al., Galatasaray in Turkey and Shanghai Shenhua in the Chinese League. Philadelphia Union is at risk of losing a playoff position

The MLS side Philadelphia Union has recently been struggling to collect points as their latest results have seen the team of Jim Curtin losing against: Chicago Fire, Montreal Impact, Portland Timbers and New York Red Bulls.


They were not able to win a single match in September and now are at risk of not snatching a playoff contention spot.

The last 2 upcoming league matches of Philadelphia Union sees them facing off with Orlando SC and New York Red Bulls on October 16 and 23 respectively. In these approaching games, the team of Jim Curtin has to secure points in order to have any realistic chance of getting a playoff position, which is one of the initial objectives of the club at the start of the season.

Will ZlatanIbrahimovic make a move to the MLS?

ZlatanIbrahimovic was one of the high profile players that Manchester United signed during the summer transfer window. The Swedish attacker made his way to the Premier League club as a free agent and he signed a 1 year long contract.


After his move to Manchester United was completed, during one of the his interviews Ibrahimovic was asked about the possibility of joining MLS later in his career and the Swedish forward did say that it’s a realistic option which he might consider.

“I am not ruling out the MLS. Once I had decided to leave PSG there were many offers, but with Zlatan that is normal. I know that teams from the MLS were interested, but the opportunity to play for Manchester United, and of course to work with my good friend Jose Mourinho again, was impossible to turn down.

“David is a good friend of mine, and he has asked me to play for his team. For now, I want to achieve big things with Manchester United, but I have a lot of respect for the MLS, and anything is possible.”Manchester United’s summer signing, ZlatanIbrahimovic said.
