DC SUFFER FORM

DC United failed to continue their good run of form after suffering a 3-2 defeat against Portland Timbers this weekend. DC United, however, were favourites for the three points going into the match after having dropped only two points in the last four matches.

They also looked quite comfortable in the latter stages of the match after having come back twice in the encounter. Portland took the lead after just one minute through Fernandez. Despite going down to this early goal, DC United showed a lot of courage to get back into the match in the 21st minute through Arnaud.

The equaliser did not last long, as Portland once again took the advantage through Danso in the 38th minute. Then, it took a long while before DC United got back into the match, but they did it through Danso’s own goal in the 78th minute.

Even a draw would have been a great result for the team, but they allowed the opposition to get the winner through Urruti in the injury time. This means that DC United will be looking behind to stay in the play-off places.

More damaging is the fact that DC United have already considered four times in the last 10 minutes of the match.

“I’m not sure what it is really.” he told the brazilie mexico cote website. “We’ve talked about it a few times, of course. I mean, it’s something that’s bothersome because we’re a very experienced group, and we should know how to close a game out, which we just haven’t been doing. We’re going over all of it. We’re watching video, we’re watching plays from before. We’re still pushing a bit too much sometimes – that’s the thing,” said defender Jeff Parke about the late goals conceded by the team, which could come to haunt them at the end of the season when they try to finish in the play-offs.
