IBRAHIMOVIC NAMED MLS NEWCOMER OF THE YEAR

LA Galaxy striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been named the MLS Newcomer of the Year, beating former Manchester United teammate and DC United captain, Wayne Rooney to the prestigious award.

The award which is voted for by MLS managers, media and fellow players was given to the former Sweden international, following a successful debut campaign in the MLS which saw him register 22 goals and 10 assists in 27 appearances.

Anthony Hudson Ruled out Sunderland Move

Colorado Rapids manager Anthony Hudson has categorically denied rumours that he is about to join English outfit Sunderland as the new manager. The Black Cats are without a manager after deciding to part company with Chris Coleman at the end of the disappointing 2017-18 campaign. After having been in the Premier league only a couple of years ago, Sunderland now find themselves in League One after back-to-back relegations.

MLS gets large Criticism from World of Football

The MLS has received a number of criticism from iconic figures in the world of football including Arsenal’s Arsene Wenger as the French stated that the MLS is a place where older players go to spend the last few years of their respective careers as it’s a league where the pressure of competing at a high level isn’t as big compared to other clubs.

With the year 2014 reaching its end, statistics have been made concerning the attendance and the growth of the MLS which has came out to be a significantly higher amount of fans watching the games and going to stadiums. The MLS is growing, not at an explosive pace but still its been growing at a steady rate.

DC SUFFER FORM

DC United failed to continue their good run of form after suffering a 3-2 defeat against Portland Timbers this weekend. DC United, however, were favourites for the three points going into the match after having dropped only two points in the last four matches.

They also looked quite comfortable in the latter stages of the match after having come back twice in the encounter. Portland took the lead after just one minute through Fernandez.
