LA Galaxy striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been named the MLS Newcomer of the Year, beating former Manchester United teammate and DC United captain, Wayne Rooney to the prestigious award.
The award which is voted for by MLS managers, media and fellow players was given to the former Sweden international, following a successful debut campaign in the MLS which saw him register 22 goals and 10 assists in 27 appearances.

He said that two months ago the team was going through a bad period and that no one believed that they could make it to the playoffs and that now they have the opportunity to do it.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic said that he feels that playing for LA Galaxy is the right thing for him to do at this stage of his career and that he feels that he can bring something to the team. He said that he feels better after his injury and that he is sure that he can help the team win trophies.
