Among the different news that has come about for MLS football, it is said that MLS would be looking to host the IFAB workshop that would be held for VAR experimentation.

This is pertaining to video assistant referees who are being considered for football and experiments are on the way. We are all used to seeing referees in action on the fields, but soon there would be virtually referees as well. The second workshop on these experiments is being started in New Jersey and is being hosted by Major League Soccer or MLS.

The workshop first kicked off in the Netherlands in the month of May. Those who are competition organizers and are interested in the potential that this technology brings forth are looking to know further and what the trial period would involve. Those who are taking part in the trials of two years, which will be overseen by IFAB, are meeting again in the second workshop which will span three days. There would be representatives from 20 leagues or more as well as associations for the game across the globe including representation coming in from Australia. LA Galaxy’s Bruce Arena is amazed at the omission of Dos Santos from Mexico

The manager of LA Galaxy was left flabbergasted after seeing the news that Dos Santos was not part of Mexico’s squad that will face off against Argentina on September 9. The Mexican attacker was not included in the friendly game that Mexico played against Trinidad and Tobago either.

Dos Santos has managed to stand out since arriving to LA Galaxy as he signed with the MLS club on July 15 of the ongoing year and so far has been one of the best players on the pitch as he scored 3 goals and provided to his teammates 6 assists during his 6 opening matches as a player of LA Galaxy.

Bruce Arena believes that Dos Santos deserves his place in the upcoming friendly matches of Mexico as he said: “Yeah, I have thoughts about it but it’s certainly not my business.I would just think that they have a pretty good team if Dos Santos wasn’t called up. Those of us who have been with the national team are used to this by now and we know now to adapt as quickly as possible to what a new coach wants. The good thing is that many of us know each other well and how we play already. We just have to adapt to the new philosophy of the new coach.” Continue reading “LA Galaxy’s Bruce Arena is amazed at the omission of Dos Santos from Mexico”

Sporting Kansas City have gone within two points of leaders Seattle Sounders

Sporting Kansas City have gone within two points of leaders Seattle Sounders after the latest victory over Vancouver Whitecaps.

The victory is the fourth three-pointer in the last five matches, thus marking the club as the inform team across North America. Only FC Dallas have a superior form over a three-game period and this trend has delighted manager Peter Vermes. The recent win over Vancouver was achieved despite the manager starting the game with inexperienced fullbacks. One of those defenders was making the first start in his MLS career and it spoke volumes about the injury situation at the club.

Despite this,Vermes is glad to see his squad cope up with a lot of challenges. A major reason behind the victory has been the form of goalkeeper Tim Melia. He has made nine starts in the MLS after being called in as the replacement for Luis Marin. He has recorded an astonishing six clean sheets during this period. Goalkeepers alone are not responsible for a good defensive record andVermes has identified this aspect with his statements about the entire defence. The recent victory has also enabled Sporting to open a five point advantage over San Jose Earthquakes, who sit just outside the play-off places. LA Galaxy managed a narrow 1-0 win over Houston Dynamo

LA Galaxy managed a narrow 1-0 win over Houston Dynamo and it could have been a very different result had it not been for some poor refereeing decisions according to the opposition manager Owen Coyle.

The former Bolton Wanderers manager felt that his team should have been given a certain penalty that was not deemed as a foul by the referee. To add to the misery, his team considered an injury time goal despite having seen the opposition reduced to just 10 men after Sorto was sent off. Houston Dynamo were unable to get the much-needed goal that would have given them entry into the play-off places.

As it is, it is LA Galaxy who leapfrog them into the sixth place with both teams having played the same number of matches. LA Galaxy have one more point than Houston Dynamo in what is turning out into a disappointing campaign for the club. The much anticipated arrival of Steven Gerrard cannot come soon enough for Bruce Arena. Houston had managed to keep LA Galaxy out of the danger for 90 minutes, but the goal in the 91st minute brought a sigh of relief to the home team manager. The defeat means that Houston’s two match winning run has been brought to a halt. Continue reading “LA Galaxy managed a narrow 1-0 win over Houston Dynamo”
