David Beckham ownership group are set to add three more partners after the Major League Soccer approved. The league revealed that it has approved the new names: Jorge Mas, Jose Mas and Masayoshi Son.

The Mas brothers are the leaders of MasTec telecommunications while Son is the Founder and Chief Executive SoftBank. Beckham has a diversified and competent ownership team that also includes the founder of Brightstar and the chief executive of Sprint Marcelo Claure. Entertainment entrepreneur Simon Fuller is also part of the group that is set to complete the ownership of a stadium site.

Expansion club Atlanta United claimed the equal biggest win in MLS history, Josef Martinez leading them to a 7-0 victory over the New England Revolution.

Martinez helped United equal an MLS record in a 7-0 thrashing of New England Revolution, while the Vancouver Whitecaps moved top.

Martinez scored a hat trick at Mercedes-Benz Stadium as Atlanta equaled the largest margin of victory in MLS history.

It took just 73 seconds for Martinez to open the scoring, the Venezuela international finishing powerfully from an angle.

New England was reduced to 10 men in the 16th minute as midfielder Xavier Kouassi was shown a straight red card.

The Revs’ outing would get much worse, Martinez scoring two penalties – both times after handballs – and Antonio Delamea Mlinar seeing red for giving away the second spot kick.

It was 4-0 before halftime as Anton Walkes struck, and Atlanta would net three more in the final 20 minutes.

Seattle Sounders coach Brian Schmetzer wants the referee to protect his players more on the pitch.

He said that opponents are targeting their offensive players and are not afraid to make fouls in order to slow them down.

The head coach said that he is appealing to the league to provide more protection for their players, but at the moment he does not see anything concrete.

Brian Schmetzer said that the targeting of his players started in the game against Colorado Rapids and their opponents made 18 fouls on that day. He said despite the fact that the referee gave them five yellow cards this did not prevent their opponents from hindering their game.

With the huge pay he receives at Manchester United, Wayne Rooney would have to consider a pay cut or exit the team.

Instead of the Far East where the star can get decent wages, there is also the Major League Soccer (MLS) who are always open to the best legs in the game.

Spending three to four years there could be a different experience for the player as his career winds down. The main issue is that Rooney wants to play in the World Cup next year. As his redundancy continues at Old Trafford, he would get no chance and Gareth Southgate has warned against a move to America.

Many feel it is a wrong career move to go to America now but the player is 31 years old and reluctant to join another Premier League side where he would receive small money and no guarantee of regular shirt. The best chance he could get is for Ronald Koeman to sanction a deal for his return and his wages not lower than £150,000 per week. Aside this MLS football is likely his best shot. The Chinese Super League and the MLS are the 2 non-European football leagues that have recently been gaining the most popularity and that have attracted a significant amount of high-profile stars in the world of football.

Ashley Cole, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Andrea Pirlo and David Villa are a few of the latest and well-known players that have joined the MLS while in the Chinese Super League some or more highly-rated performers that compete or have competed in the Asian League are: Oscar, Didier Drogba, Jackson Martinez, EzequielLavezzi, Demba Ba and Hulk.

Even though both leagues have been attracting top players in recent times, New York City’s Andrea Pirlo believes that the MLS will not be able to truly compete with the Chinese Super League and will not be able to lure in a large amount of top-players unless the rules of the MLS change in the near future.

Andrea Pirlo has been performing in the MLS since July of 2015 and the Italian player has learned how things work in the American League and Pirlo believes that there are some big flaws in the MLS which might slow down the progress of the football league.
