SILVA BIDS FAREWELL TO MAN CITY

 

Manchester City ran-out 5-0 winners over Norwich on the final day of the EPL season. It also marks the final league appearance for veteran David Silva. The Citizens put on a fine display against the bottom side despite having nothing to play for.


City were given a scare in the 8th minute. Norwich took the lead through Hernandez, but after consultation from VAR, the goal was disallowed for possible offside.

Guillermo Barros Schelotto extends support to doctors and health care workers

 

LA Galaxy coach Guillermo Barros Schelotto has extended his support to the doctors who are fighting against the coronavirus pandemic. The infectious disease has already infected more than 1.5 million individuals around the world, while the United States has had more than 500,000 affected. There have been more than 100,000 deaths around the world. As a result, all forms of activities have come to a standstill with different parts of the world in forcing lockdowns in different degrees. One of the first states to introduce lockdown in the United States was California and the state is reaping rewards by being able to control the spread of the disease.


As a result of the MLS being suspended, there is no activity at LA Galaxy. Still, the coach took time to send out a personal message to thank the doctors who have been working tirelessly in order to help the nation recover from the problem. Apart from the message, the LA Galaxy team is also ramping up donations in fight against the disease. After a brilliant 2019 campaign in which LA Galaxy were able to finish top of the Western Conference and reach the MLS Cup, the team have made an unbeaten start to the 2020 campaign.

PREVIEW: NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION VS CHICAGO FIRE

New England Revolution will look to register their first win of this season when they host the Chicago Fire on Saturday. The visitors also started the new campaign with a loss away from home. Squad from Boston was unsuccessful against Illinois representative in the last five official matches, winning just one encounter.


The New England Revolution lost their opening match of the 2020 MLS season as they were beaten 2-1 away from home by Thierry Henry’s Montreal Impact. Bruce Arena’s side started the match on the front foot as they took a first half lead through Teal Bunbury.

LUCAS CAVALLINI ON THE VERGE OF VANCOUVER WHITECAPS MOVE

Vancouver Whitecaps FC of Canada are preparing for a bid to bring Lucas Cavallini over to their squad to help them in next season’s Western Conference league of MLS football. Cavallini has confirmed he will be leaving Puebla and it is hard to see how he won’t end up on the colder side of North America come next season.

At the age of 26, Cavallini is commanding a signing fee of $5 million. After racking up tons of experience in Liga MX, the Canada international is ready to return home.

United Confident to Compete at Elite MLS

Jason Levien is the chief executive of D.C. United. He stated that the bones of the club are strong and tough. He had listed the inauguration of the Audi Field last summer along with the Segra Field for making the second division squad to be done during this summer. The training center is set to open next year at Leesburg and all the core players who helped in producing two of the playoff berth for MLS. He has also acknowledged deep dissatisfaction regarding their quick exit each time postseason. He has also expressed his frustration regarding the success of United for the long term as they have not been able to make any appearances in the MLS Cup for a period of 15 years. They have not made any final trips in the conference in the past seven years.

Jason said that they certainly are into much pressure on them and they are no longer in the opening act for the Audi Field. He added people are looking forward to see the way in which D.C. United responds to the second full season in the all-new stadium, how the team unites and how they can take the game into the next level. United was able to get into the next level with the help of star power in the past season when they had Wayne Rooney with them. He collaborated with the new stadium and revitalized the whole organization.
